Blessed by Brittany, Legislator Helps Save US Pets

Front and center in this photo is angel Brittany, who could even steal the spotlight from President Bill Clinton! Brittany's pet parents Salena Carroll and N.J. State Senator Ray Lesniak (pictured here with Brittany and President Clinton) recently made a very generous donation to Save U.S. Pets, in Brittany's memory and in honor of all pets held dear by Ray's colleagues in the New Jersey Senate. According to Salena, "We do something every year on behalf of Raymond's fellow Senators. This year, we had to make our angel furbaby Britt a part of it." Brittany lived a good life before she passed away at age 19. Searching for a way to make a meaningful gift in Brittany's memory, Salena read the stories on Save U.S. Pet's website of families whose treatment options are limited by financial constraints and knew she had to help. Joining in their tribute to Brittany were Mary Rother, in memory of Millie and Sandy; Kip Bateman, in memory of Lexi; the Sigmund family, in memory of Lilly; Jeff and Ricki Van Drew, in honor of Thor and Rika; and many others. Thanks to all of you for your generousity, and to Brittany for being at the center of it all!

Singing Scout Helps Save U.S. Pets

Rebecca McSherry is an extraordinary 11-year-old Girl Scout who organized a fund-raiser for Save U.S. Pets Foundation.  She shared with us the story of what inspired her to help Save U.S. Pets.

"When we were first looking into dogs about 2 years ago, we fell in love and rescued our former dog Goldie.  Actually my parents surprised me on a typical school day.  About 2 years later, Goldie had developed a case of leukemia and kidney failure. She had almost passed away in March, but with the vet's special care we were able to have her for 4 more months.  Soon her sickness had gotten worse and the vet couldn't do anything to help because her kidneys were shutting down, so she passed away in July.  One of my friend's dog, Mia, also had passed this summer.

"After taking Goldie to the vet lots of times we had read about the organization Save U.S Pets.  We wanted to do something in Goldie and Mia's memory, so my Girl Scout Troup and I went Christmas caroling in my neighborhood.  Instead of the neighbors giving us candy, we had asked instead for a donation for Save U.S Pets.  We raised 400 dollars in total.  We are proud and happy to raise the money we did.  We hope this idea will inspire others to do the same."  -  Rebecca McSherry
