Ebay, the online marketplace,
makes it possible for sellers to give proceeds
from items they sell on eBay to charities through
MissionFish, the nonprofit, licensed fundraising
partner of eBay. Together, they offer charities
like the Save U.S. Pets Foundation a unique way
to raise funds. Since it’s program launch
in November 2003, nonprofits have raised more
than $41 million through the eBay Giving Works
program!
Here
is how you can help:
1. You will need to have
both an eBay and MissionFish account – both
easy and free to obtain.
2. While listing an item
for sale on eBay, as the seller, you choose to
donate a percentage of your sale to a certified
nonprofit, like the Save U.S.Pets Foundation,
using the MissionFish popup window. After this
designation, the seller completes the item listing
on eBay.
The item appears with the eBay Giving Works icon
and the benefiting nonprofit and the donation
percentage designated listed in the item description.
The nonprofit is notified about the listing.
3. After the eBay listing
ends and if the item sells, the buyer pays the
seller and the seller ships the item to the buyer,
as usual.
4. The seller pays his
donation to MissionFish who distributes the funds
to the nonprofit and provides a receipt to the
seller for the gift. You will receive a receipt
for tax deduction purposes from the SaveU.S.Pets
Foundation.
